No sound applet
ProblemAfter upgrading the system I had no sound applet :( En plus, the whole Gnome looked ugly and mixed up. SolutionI've decided to reset my Gnome settings to defaults. It made the trick. Steps to follow:
This tip is from http://linuxfud.wordpress.com/2007/02/14/how-to-reset-ubuntugnome-settings-to-defaults-without-re-installing/ . Solution #2I found a better solution to get back the volume control applet. Launch the following program: /usr/bin/gnome-volume-control-applet You can put it in System → Preferences → Startup Applications, then it'll start each time you restart the machine. Solution #3At http://www.ansaldocomputing.com/ubuntu-lucid-10-04-missing-volume-and-me-menu.html there is a solution proposed to get back the sound applet and the Me Menu applet. Steps to follow: * install these packages: indicator-me indicator-sound indicator-session indicator-applet-session indicator-applet * For Volume Control: Right Click on the panel Select “Add to Panel” Add Indicator Applet * For ME Menu: Right Click on the panel Select “Add to Panel” Add Indicator Applet |
