Convert ext3 to ext4

I've decided to convert the filesystem of my laptop from ext3 to ext4. I've followed these instructions: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ConvertFilesystemToExt4 .

I had a little problem during step 2. When I made a reboot after the tune2fs command, the system didn't boot up normally. It didn't do the filesystem check automatically; instead of that I got an error and a maintenance console. So I had to run the following check manually:

fsck -pf /dev/XXXX

Actually, it didn't want to accept the -p switch, so I ran fsck -f /dev/XXXX. Then, when the filesystem check finished I made a reboot and it was OK.
