Ubuntu ISO to Bootable USB

#############################

Question

How to install Ubuntu from a USB stick?

Answer

You can find a nice how-to to this question in Full Circle Magazine (issue 21, page 20).

Short summary:

  • use a USB stick of a minimal size of 1 GB
  • Format it (FAT32 is OK) and make it bootable with gparted (right click, manage flags, boot). For these manipulations you must unmount the stick.
  • re-mount the stick and using Unetbootin copy the ISO to the USB stick

Note that the creation of the bootable USB stick will seem to stop at around 5%. Don't worry, it's working, just wait a bit…
