Problem

Lots of "permission denied" errors after install.

Solution

Strangely, the installer only set read/execute permissions for the root user! So I couldn't launch VMware as a normal user! Holy crap! Solution: note every directory name that is mentioned by the installer. Then, look them up and set permissions correctly for directories and files. Heh, good game to waste some time.

This stuff might help a bit:

#!/bin/bash

find . -type d -print0 | xargs -0 chmod 755
find . -type f -print0 | xargs -0 chmod 644

alias rid='chmod 644'
alias ridd='chmod 755'

Problem

Arrow keys don't work in the guest system. Host: Ubuntu 8.10.
