find

#############################

(*) Give me an example for -exec and {}

find . -name README -exec wc -l {} \;

Where:

{}name of the current file
\;end of the arguments for -exec

Meaning: find all README files recursively and print how many lines they have.

(*) How to do find the same files with grep?

find . | grep README

(*) How to get the same result with xargs?

find . | grep README | xargs wc -l

(*) How to get the same result with a loop?

find . | grep README | while read i; do wc -l $i; done

This is a very comfortable solution, since you can do easily several operations with the file.
