Customize the contents of sent mails

Problem

You want to customize of the body of mails that are sent upon registration and setting new passwords.

Solution

The templates are located here:

  • $LIFERAY/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib/portal-impl.jar
  • In the JAR file: com/liferay/portlet/admin/dependencies/*.tmpl.

But, you can change them through a web interface too. Log in as admin, then go to Control Panel → Portal/Settings → Configuration/Email Notifications.

In the body of the mails http://localhost is indicated by default. To change it, go to Configuration/General and set the new value under Virtual Host.
