Installing Eclipse + Subclipse under Linux

Problem

Unfortunately, each time I install Eclipse on Linux, I always have some problems with the Subclipse plugin. This problem is caused by the SVN client interface.

Details

• Install Eclipse.
• Install the Subclipe plugin (http://subclipse.tigris.org/install.html).
• Go to Window → Preferences → SVN. Here I always have that the SVN client interface JavaHL (JNI) is not available. Great!
• Here you can find the trick how to get JavaHL to work. There is also a wiki site addressing this problem.
• Another solution is to laisser tomber JavaHL and to go for the SVNKit, which is a pure Java SVN client. I found that if I go back to the installation window in Eclipse (Help → Software Updates… → Available Software), Subclipse SVNKit Option appears magically under the Subclipse update site. I also have an update site in this list for SVNKit. Check and install them.
• If you don't see SVNKit, then add its update site (http://eclipse.svnkit.com/1.2.x/) and install it just like you installed Subclipse. For updated information you can consult the SVNKit site.
